Anambra Govt Commiserat With Victims Of Building Collapse In Onitsha

Anambra State government has commiserated with the victims of Wednesday’s building collapse at Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
the Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche regrets the rate of building collapse in the state.

The Special Duties Commissioner promised that the state government is taking steps to ensure that the menace becomes a thing of the past.

Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche urged Council for the Regulation of Engineers in Nigeria, COREN and members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, to partner the government in monitoring building sites in the state especially in ensuring that developers only employ well-, trained and certified contractors for any construction project.

ANN gathered that a five storey building under construction had collapsed within the school premises in the early hours yesterday with three persons trapped in the debris.
