Anambra state government through the Universal Basic Education Board ASUBEB, has distributed sports equipment and materials to schools.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
the Chairman Anambra State House Committee on Education, Honourable Anayo Okpalaeke while declaring the
distribution of the equipment open, praised Professor Chukwuma Soludo for paying the State’s counterpart fund, adding that it is a testimony of the value that the Governor places on sports and physical activities which will help empower Anambra athletes and sport enthusiasts.
Anambra Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh in her speech explained that Governor Soludo’s aim is to train all round children in the three domains of learning which include the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains.
The Executive Chairman, ASUBEB, Dr. Vera Nwadinobi while speaking, disclosed that the board has come up with a comprehensive sporting calendar that would compel all schools to engage in serious sporting activities within the academic year.
ANN gathered that the kits and equipment to schools were procured under the 2019/2020 Universal Basic Education, Matching Grant for Anambra State and marks the fulfilment of government’s commitment to the development of sports in the public and public-mission schools.
The sports equipment and materials were jersey, balls, badminton, table tennis kits, goal posts, skipping ropes, among numerous others.
