Anambra Govt Launches Road Decongestion Operation In Onitsha

Anambra State Ministry of Transport’s enforcement team, supported by several security and monitoring agencies, embarked on a road decongestion operation in Onitsha.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
the decongestion effort was led by the Managing Director of Ocha Brigade Hon. Celestine Anara and the Senior Special Assistant on Security to the Governor. Hon. Chiejina Obieze, alongside officials including Monday Desmond Nwokoye and members of the Ocha Brigade Enforcement Team.

While speaking, Hon. Obieze reiterated that the operation was directly aligned with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s directive, aimed at ensuring all vehicles use designated, government-approved parks.

“We’ve issued multiple public announcements through radio, television, and online platforms, instructing drivers to utilize these approved parks.

“This is a clear reminder to everyone to respect the governor’s directive and keep our roads free from illegal parking. This measure is part of our commitment to providing Ndi Anambra a cleaner, healthier, and safer environment.

“This enforcement action serves as a visible reminder of the state’s commitment to creating a more organized and accessible urban environment, benefiting all who live in and travel through Anambra”. Obieze said.

ANN gathered that g areas the coordinated mission included personnel from the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG), Nigerian Navy, Ocha Brigade, Soludo Marshal, DSS, Civil Defense, and the Ministry of Transport’s monitoring team.

Together, they tackled congestion along key routes, with a particular focus on the ever-busy Owerri Road. The operation successfully cleared these roads, making them accessible and safe for the people of Ndi Anambra and visitors alike.
