Officials of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), have successfully reclaimed a land housing a school that was allegedly grabbed by a land speculator in Okukwa, Amansea, Awka North Local Government Area.
The land which has been in existence for about fifty years now was grabbed by a land speculator who went ahead to sell some portions of the land to another individual.
The land racketeerer even demolished Eziogbo Community School toilets situated within the land and built on it.
Officials of ACTDA disclosed that the land grabber was warned severally against the illegal grabbing of land and building on the school land two years ago when he started the project, but he remained deviant and continued his building which blocked access road in the area.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the exercise, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ACTDA, Mr. Ossy Onuko noted that the developer, rather than heeding to the advise and warning given to him to stop work, started threatening the Parish priest and the Bishop of Awka Catholic Diocese who manage the school.
Mr. Onuko maintained that the Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s led government has no room for land grabbing or any form of impunity within the state, especially as it regards the Awka Capital Territory and made it clear that the Agency will continue to do its job by sanitizing the capital city.
The ACTDA boss warned land speculators to stay away from the capital city or will always regret their illegal actions as they will continue to implement the liveable and prosperous Anambra agenda of the State government.
He called on all developers and potential developers or builders within the city to always visit the headquarters of the Agency in Awka to ascertain the genuineness of their properties as well as get adequate approvals before embarking on any project.
In the same vein, officials of ACTDA have also removed an illegal structure opposite Dunamis Church Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area that is causing obstruction in the area.
