Anambra Govt Seals Off Hotels, Business Centres For Disobedience To Court Summons

Anambra State Government through Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade, has sealed hotels and business premises for disobedience to court summons.

The Managing Director of OCHA Brigade, Comrade Celestine Anere lamented the flagrant disobedience to environmental laws by some hotels and leisure centre operators.

Anere said the enforcement was due to a public outcry over the environmental state of the areas where the businesses are located while noting that the issue of disobeying environmental laws has become a perennial problem that is posing a serious threat to the sanity of the society.

OCHA Brigade boss revealed that more enforcement teams have been created to avail residents the opportunity to report any environmental issues in their areas adding, they are poised to safeguarding and upholding every government policy that will promote the vision of a clean, green, healthy, livable and prosperous homeland in the state.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that most of the affected businesses are located in Awka and environs.

The sealing of the premises which comes after weeks of court notices served by the agency and the Ministry of Environment on them.
