Supporters and stakeholders in APGA divides as the crises rocking the party deepen. Some State House of Assembly members has draw support for Umuoji whilst others insist on Soludo Candidacy for APGA. As various contendĀers in the NovemĀber 6 Anambra governorship election strategise, the National Association of Nigerian Youth Leaders (NANYL) have pledged their support for the goverĀnorship ambition of Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji, one of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) disputed candidates.
The group leaders in a communique issued after their monthly congress held in Enugu also called on everyone in Anambra State to give their support to their choice candidate, campaign and mobilise for him on the day of elecĀtion as they believed that he would take the state to greater heights.
The leaders, in the comĀmunique signed by their National President, ComĀrade Obinna Ozoji, and NaĀtional Secretary, Mustapha Ahmed respectively, said their decision was based on thorough examination of the pedigrees and integĀrity of all the candidates as well as the development and progress of the state.
This was as the apex youth body of the All ProĀgressives Grand Alliance (APGA) also endorsed Umeoji, while it dumped former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, as well as the partyās disputed National Chairman, VicĀtor Oye in favour of Jude Okeke.
The youths, under the auspices of the APGA Youths Vanguard, pledged their loyalty to Jude Okeke as the partyās chairman in a communique issued by their National Working Committee.
The communiquĆ©, jointĀly signed by their PresiĀdent, Victor Okonkwo; SecĀretary, Atinuke Oyeyemi; and Public Relations OffiĀcer, Soboma Richard, said the recent happing in the party necessitated their action.
They congratulated Governor Willie Obiano for the numerous projects he had successfully executĀed in Anambra State since he assumed office, but stressed that there was need for everyone to be on the same page in the interĀest of the party.
The group, however, enĀjoined every member of the party to support UmeoĀji, especially as the IndeĀpendent National ElectorĀal Commission (INEC) had recognized him as the partyās candidate, having being a local government chairman and a serving House of Representatives member.
āWe therefore pass vote of confidence and declare our total support for Hon. Umeoji, while calling every member of APGA to rally round support for his vicĀtory at polls.
However, the reconciliation Committee headed by Chief Senator Victor Umeh is still working to bring peace to the party ahead of the November 6 Governorship election in Anambra State.
