Anambra HOS ‘Iwouno’ Organises Clean-Up Exercise In Public Offices

…Iwouno stated that the clean-up exercise would become a monthly routine

The new Anambra State Head of Service (HOS) Barrister Ngozi Iwouno, has kicked off her administration by conducting a clean-up exercise across all ministries at the Jerome Udorji Secretariat, Awka.

Joined by Permanent Secretaries from various ministries, the clean-up exercise took Iwouno, from the building housing her office to the last building, covering offices, the old secretariat, the frontage of the secretariat gate, and other surrounding areas.

Speaking after the exercise, Iwouno said the initiative became necessary following Governor Soludo’s impromptu visit to the secretariat, during which he discovered several issues, including the fact that the offices were dirty and littered with obsolete equipment.

The Head Of Service stated that the clean-up exercise would become a monthly routine, adding that, going forward, the Anambra State Civil Service would be a pace-setter in the country, and called on all civil servants to be environmentally friendly by properly managing their waste to ensure a clean environment.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
Bar. Iwouno had earlier instructed every ministry to evacuate all furniture and property in their offices that were no longer in use, sort and refurbish those that could still be put to use, and then auction or discard those that were no longer relevant.

Speaking, the Permanent Secretary of Anambra State Ministry of Environment, Engineer Tochukwu Obodogha, noted that the move is a welcome development, as it aligns with the Clean, Green, and Liveable Homeland initiative proposed by Governor Soludo.
