Anambra State Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Barrister Anthony Ifeanya has led officials of the ministry on a-six-day working visit to the Kaduna State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources with particular emphasis on its solid minerals development plans and strategy.
This follows the directive of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to the ministry to with the view to glean lessons from their successes and challenges.Â
Commissioner Ifeanya and his team were on arrival at Kaduna State, granted received by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources. Mr. Abubakar Buba, his Permanent Secretary, Mr. Abba Umar, the director of mineral resources, Mr. Caleb Guruza, the Chief Geologist, Mr. Kenneth Tsuwang and later visited the the managing director, Kaduna Mining Development Company, KMDC.
According to Commissioner Ifeanya, from their discussions, visits and documents tendered by the technical team of the Kaduna State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, they observed among numerous other findings that Kaduna State is able to harness their potentials in numerous solid minerals due to the frame works it put in place while Anambra has the same frameworks in place but lack implementation.
Ifeanya and his team on visit to a prospective Lithium metal processing plant under construction at the outskirts of Kaduna metropolis, receipt of some documents and collection of rock samples.
While appealing to Governor Soludo to graciously approve the establishment of solid mineral databank, detailed geological survey, acquiring exploration, mining and quarry licences and linking the ministry to ministry of Land’s website for GIS services, Barrister Ifeanya described functional solid mineral development company as a panacea for solid mineral resources development in the state.
