Anambra Lawmaker Empowers Market Women With Cash To Support Their Petty Trading

The member representing Awka South one constituency at the Anambra state house of assembly, Honourable Henry Nigeria Mbachu, gave out cash to market women in Perm Site Market, Ukwuorji, Awka, to support their petty trading activities.

Hon. Mbachu who spoke to journalists after the exercise recently, said that the gesture was part of his legislative agenda to reduce poverty, restore hope to many families, and promote the growth of small businesses in Awka South one Constituency, especially in the wake of the economic crisis caused by the removal of subsidies on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) by the Federal Government in May 2023.

The lawmaker also stated that other markets within the constituency would benefit from this economic empowerment programme, which he said was non-partisan.

Mbachu announced that by January 2024, he would launch a non-interest loan scheme to encourage Small and Medium Enterprises among the constituents of Awka South one Constituency.

“I am committed to ensuring that every constituent of Awka South one Constituency, regardless of party affiliation, enjoys the dividends of democracy, and this scheme is one of the many programmes designed to improve the welfare of my people,” he declared.

ANN reports that the beneficiaries, who were overjoyed, described Hon. Nigeria Mbachu as a lawmaker who has consistently shown genuine and strong interest in improving the well-being of his constituents. They expressed their sincere gratitude to him.
