Anambra Lawmaker Inspects Ogbaru Market, Commissions Facilities

The member representing Ogbaru One constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly Hon. Chukwunonso Noble Igwe says Okpoko community has been overlooked by previous administrations, but Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s regime has brought significant improvements.

Hon. Igwe who is the Deputy Minority Leader of the 8th assembly while commissioning a new Market Party Office and urinary facilities built by the market’s President-General, Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu recently, highlighted the construction of good roads, a general hospital, free antenatal services, boreholes, and free education for pupils as some of the achievements under Soludo’s administration.

The lawmaker while addressing the traders of Ogbaru Main Market also inspected a damaged drainage system, known locally as a “Sakamori.”

According to Hon. Igwe, Soludo has transformed Okpoko into a New Haven Community.

He praised Chief Ochiogu for his leadership and urged traders to accept the increase in market revenue in good faith, noting that it is still lower than in other states.

Hon. Igwe pledged to bring the damaged drainage to the attention of the Governor and other relevant authorities for repair.

Responding, Chief Ochiogu expressed his gratitude for Hon. Igwe’s visit and called on traders to focus on getting government assistance to fix the damaged drainage to prevent market flooding.

Ochiogu also highlighted that the Anambra State House of Assembly has mandated all markets to have functioning boreholes, fire extinguishers, decongested roads, and CCTV cameras. Chief Ochiogu assured traders that he has met 80% to 90% of these requirements.

“Soludo is doing well, and there’s no need to panic about his re-election. I’ve been campaigning for him since last year, which is why APGA symbols are everywhere in the market,” Chief Ochiogu said.
