Anambra Lawmaker Offers Varsity Scholarship To Five Indigent Students

The member representing Ayamelum Constituency at the Anambra state House of Assembly, Hon. Benard Udemezue has pledged to do his best to promote quality education and agriculture in the constituency.

Udemezue made the pledge after offering scholarships to five students that scored highest marks in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Ayamelum. 

The lawmaker who described education as key to unlocking the future, also announced that the number of beneficiaries in the N200,000 Scholarship Scheme will be increased to ten as from 2024. He charged the beneficiaries of this year’s award to make good use of the facility in their academic pursuit.

The lawmaker adds that his education empowerment was in line with his vision for turning the area into agriculture hub and food basket of the nation.

“Agriculture is a thing of great interest in Ayamelum. It is our hobby and the jawbone with which Ayamelum indegenes can achieve their plans, in terms of training their children in the school, sending them abroad, building houses etc. 

In fact, if we fail to empower our people for Improved agriculture, we are not doing Ayamelum people any good. “Therefore, I am calling on Governor Chukwuma Soludo led administration to help Ayamelum people by making available good road network, electricity and other social amenities in the area.
