…apologies to Soludo an unusual outburst
The lawmaker representing Ayamelum Local Government Area in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Maduabuchukwu Bernard Udemezue says Governor Chukwuma Soludo has done well in his first term.
Hon. Udemezue on Thursday in his office while briefing journalists on the achievements of the governor during his first term in office stated that Soludo has performed remarkably well, even though Ayamelum local government area did not benefit as much as expected.
According to the lawmaker, the governor has generally performed well across the state and should not be judged solely based on developments in Ayamelum Local Government Area.
“Although Ayamelum is just one local government out of the 21 in Anambra State, you cannot assess Soludo’s performance based on one local government alone.
“Generally, in Anambra State, the governor has done well in the areas of security, education, infrastructure, and health. He has been able to curb insecurity in the state to a reasonable extent.
“Even though my cousin was kidnapped few days ago and later dumped under the Niger Bridge, that does not mean Soludo has not done well in the area of security,” Udemezue added.
“The establishment of the Udo Ga Chi security initiative was a major step for ndi Anambra, before now, everyone knew the level of insecurity the state had experienced.
Speaking on Soludo’s achievements in the health sector, Udemezue stated that the governor has employed many health workers, built general hospitals, and equipped some of them, including the one in Ayamelum and other parts of the state.
“Though there are still many lapses in the system, Soludo has done well. In my assessment, i will score him 60 percent because there are still lapses i observe in the system.
Speaking on Soludo’s performance in education, Udemezue said the governor has done well.
” Soludo has employed a lot of teachers to teach our children and has ensured that schools are functional on Mondays. The Smart School initiative is incredible, and the
On Youth development, the lawmaker questioned the effectiveness of
‘One Youth, Two Skills’ programme.
“One Youth, Two Skills’ programme is also wonderful. It is meant to elevate young people and help them become productive members of society,” he said.
In the area of infrastructure, the lawmaker said he observed the dichotomies in Soludo’s administration and i think he is more interested in urban areas.
” Soludo has done well in urban areas. In Ayamelum, it would be difficult to say that the government has done well in terms of infrastructure.
“It would be wrong for me to say that we have experienced reasonable infrastructure in Ayamelum. We have always wanted the road connecting Awka to Ayamelum to be constructed through Amansea and Oba Ofemili. The road requires a bridge to properly link Awka with those communities.
“The road from Achalla to Omor has not been done. My prayers is that the state government led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo should come to the aid of ndi Ayamelum.
“Soludo has awarded from Onitsha Magazine to Aguleri Otuocha junction, i dont know if there will be a continuation from Aguleri to Omor-Ayamelum. We will want the reconstruction that he started before the election, to be completed. Atlist, lets have one good road in Ayamelum.
Speaking on Soludo’s performance in Agriculture Udemezue said: “The governor in his opinion, has done well in Agriculture. I listened to him couple of times, talking of how he empowered ndi Anambra in a way it has never been done by distributing seedlings, but i don’t know if that is enough to say that Soludo has done well in Agriculture.
“There is still need for the government to support through providing machineries. In Ayamelum, we have serious shortage of farm machineries like tractors, fertilizers and a transformer to activate the counterpart funds which is in partnership between the state and federal government.
The lawmaker further appealed to the governor to ensure that the irrigation system in Ayamelum becomes operational, noting that the area is largely agrarian and that functional irrigation would enable farmers to cultivate crops during both the dry and rainy seasons.
Udemezue also stated that electricity is urgently needed in the area to power irrigation stations and support farming activities.
On the distribution of development projects across the state, he said he does not expect that all parts of Anambra will benefit equally at the same time.
Udemezue emphasized that the most important achievement of the governor so far is the improvement in security.
Speaking on his suspension, Udemezue who just resumed plenary after six months suspension, appreciated his constituents for their support.
‘I thank my supporters who kept my hopes alive through the struggle and storms.
He also tendered an unreserved apology to the Governor Chukwuma Soludo, for what he described as an unusual outburst.
“I apologize to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for my unusual outburst. I’m sincerely sorry about that, and I hope it will not happen again. I believe he is a father and will find space in his heart to forgive me,”.
