The member representing Onitsha North ll constituency, Hon. Patrick Okafor urges his constituents to preserve the newly constructed Akpa-marine-33 express roads by the state government.
Angel Network News (ANN) recalls that Okafor at plenary on Tuesday, moved a motion commending Governor Chukwuma Soludo for completing the said road.
Hon. Okafor who is the house committee chairman on Judiciary, admonished his people to have proper attitude towards government/public facilities.
The legislator however called for the construction of the bridge connecting Onitsha and Anambra East and West saying that the importance of Bridge cannot be over emphasized.
“The governor made a promise that the roads will last for twenty years; if we keep the drainages clean and distill them, it may last longer than that.
“Our people are law abiding citizens ready to listen to government directives to make sure they have a suitable and liveable environment.
“More roads need to be constructed and rehabilitated considering the fact that Onitsha is a commercial city that requires a lot of commutable roads.
“The road under discuss is very important and strategic; it serves as an alternative route for commuters who want to connect to different connecting areas.
“Before now, we were having traffic issues. It’s now a thing of the past with the completion of the road.
“The road also has economic value since it serves as a meeting point for those trading in Onitsha especially Ose and Main markets.
“Traders, instead of going through 33-Otucha road can easily commute the Akpaka-marine road.
“Some farmer’s from the riverine areas like Omambala can use the road to bring their farm produce to sell them off in the Onitsha markets.
“It will further alleviate the sufferings of people who need to go round to access Nsugbe and the College of Education because it will just be a matter of few minutes and one is through to where one intends to drive to.”
