Anambra Lawmakers Calls For Construction Of Pedestrian Bridge At Total Filing Station Junction Ihiala

The Anambra State House of Assembly has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the commissioner for work to facilitate the construction of pedestrian bridge at total filing station junction Ihiala town.

Chief Whip and member representing Ihiala one constituency Hon. Jude Ngobili who was the chief sponsor of the motion revealed that one of the busiest bus stop on the Onitsha-Owerri road is located at the total filling station junction, Ihiala, town.

According to Ngobili a large number of pedestrians, including childred and the elderly, cross the road everyday. 

“The rate of vehicle acceleration at the spot is quite high and the alarming rate at which accident occur, which frequently results in fatalities an various degrees of accident casualties. 

“A pedestrian bridge across the area will significantly lower the number of accident and if constructed, the pedestrian bridge will increase accessibility for everyone, including the disabled and provide safer crossing. 

” A pedestrian bridge is urgently needed because

the total filing station is the commercial center of Ihiala and the busiest spot within the local government which has the famous Nkwo market behind it and also links other communities”. The Chief Whip submitted.

Supporting the motion, Hon. Golden iloh, Hon. Chukwunonso Igwe, Majority Leader Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme, Hon. Jude Umennajiego, Hon. Chimezie Ikwunne, Hon. Anthony Muobike and Hon. Chuks Azotani all laid more emphasizes on the reason why the pedestrian bridge is vital and important.

“Their is every need for a pedestrian bridge to be put in place to help reduce the risk encontered by pedestrians while trying to cross the road. We believe that our listening and working Governor will do the needful for ndi Anambra to enjoy safe crossing.

” Their are too many road sellers and first bank in this spot which contributes to lots of traffic. This motion is a life saving motion. 

” We are appealing to Prof. Chukwuma Soludo to key to this call. This will help people with disabilities to move around that area safely because the primary assignment of government is to protect lives and property”.
