The incumbent Chairman of Dunukofia Local Government Council, Bar. Chijioke Ozumba has officially emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the August 2026 Mayoral Election.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
Ozumba was returned unopposed at the party’s primary election held at the Dunukofia Local Government Secretariat.
In his acceptance remarks, the Mayor expressed appreciation to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, for providing a level playing field for all aspirants and for upholding internal party democracy.
The local government boss commended the Governor Soludo’s leadership in strengthening APGA’s position as the third-largest political party in Nigeria.
Ozumba further thanked the Governor for his transformational strides across Anambra State, citing extensive rural road construction, achievements in youth development, education, security, and other critical sectors.
The Mayor also extended gratitude to the National Chairman of APGA, Sly Ezeokenwa, and members of the National Working Committee for their steadfast leadership and commitment to party unity.
He acknowledged the State Chairman of APGA, Ifeatu Obiokoye, and the State Working Committee for their role in ensuring a credible nomination process across the state.
He appreciated the entire Dunukofia APGA family, traditional rulers, the Dunukofia National Congress, community President-Generals, stakeholders, the Dunukofia APGA Party Chairman, Patrick Emeka Okonkwo, ward executives, and party officials across the Local Government Area for their collective support and commitment to unity and peaceful political transition in line with the rotational leadership agreement.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to development, Bar. Ozumba pledged to consolidate his achievements in youth empowerment, particularly Nkwado Ndi Afia, agricultural revitalization, road construction, health and education improvements, and infrastructural development across all communities in Dunukofia.
He assured residents that a second term would focus on continuity, consolidation, and accelerated development.
