ANAMBRA: Methodist Church Partners FRSC On Traffic Control

Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Adeoye Irelewuyi, has thanked the Methodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of Awka, Anambra State for its willingness to partner in traffic management and enlightenment.

Rt. Rev. Moses Nwakanma who disclosed its readiness to partner with FRSC during a visit to the Command, said traffic control in a state like Anambra should not be left for the FRSC alone to handle.

ANN reports that Nwakanma who was recently consecrated, following creation of Awka Diocese, described himself as a member of the FRSC family, having been a Special Marshal, a position he said offered him opportunity to assist in traffic control.

The Prelate informed the Corps of the forthcoming inauguration of the diocese as well as his enthronement as pioneer Bishop of the diocese on April 27, 2023 by Archbishop of Enugu, Most Rev. Barr. C. N. Edeh, soliciting for its presence to assist in traffic control during the event.

Irelewuyi, represented by Acting Head of Operations, Georgina Omeke  informed the Bishop and his team of recent creation of units across the 21 local government areas of the State with sole aim of public awareness and enlightenments of the Corps programmes.

“Special Marshal in Anambra has a strong pillar as compared to other states. We have an office in Awka and another one coming up in Nteje courtesy of Special Marshal.

“I am delighted that you’re part of us and appreciate all your efforts. Last three years, FRSC, in line with its functions, the management created a unit in all local governments across the state with one Officer and one Special Marshall.

“The primary reason for creating the units is for public enlightenments and advocacy in markets, churches and other public facilities. I’m giving you assurance we’re going to partner with you and your church.”
