A bill for a law to repeal the Anambra State Newspaper and Printing Corporation 1994 and to provide for related matters have been read for the second time at plenary.
ANN reports that Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Jude Akpua while leading the debate maintained that the decisions of Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo will always be for the good of ndi Anambra.
Hon. Akpua who is the member representing Njikoka two constituency called for the posting of the staff of Anambra State Newspaper and Printing Corporation to different ministries and agencies.
In their seprate submissions Hon. Nobel Igwe (Ogbaru one), Hon. Henry Mbachu, (Awka South one), Hon. Golden Iloh (Ihiala two), Hon. Jude Umenajiego (Onitsha South two) and Chief Whip Hon. Jude Ngobili (Ihiala One) called for the protection of the interest of the workers.
” As lawmakers, we need to make our own input by protecting the intreast of the workers. We will also ensure that the facilities of the coperation are not abandoned but be utalized”.
Anambra Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze in his submission said the process has already began since February but that the reason for the repeal is to empower Governor Chukwuma Soludo to redeploy or pay compensation to the staff and to also pay gratuaty and pension and also take necessary actions.
Udeze revealed that at the next plenary which will be on Tuesday December 5th 2023, the bill will be treated and read for the third time.
