…My victory was a prayer answered for ndi Nawgu craving for a new direction – Nwegwu
The newly elected President-General (PG) of Nawgu Development Union (NDU), Prince Frank Okwudili Nwegwu says his victory was a prayer answered for ndi Nawgu craving for a new direction for the desired growth and development of the town.
Nwegwu stated this after emerging victorious at the peaceful and keenly contested election of the NDU held at the Iruka Primary School Nawgu, Dunukofia Local Government Area.
“Whenever I look at Nawgu, I see development yearning for expression. I contested to lead owing to my wealth of experiences as a prince who happened to be the son of a traditional ruler who played a vital role in the leadership of Nawgu for 32 years and from my experience as Vice President-General of Nawgu for six years, I see Nawgu people as peace-loving people, who know how to show the Nawgu in them. By God’s grace, our expectations shall find expression.”
” My victory is about enshrining the peaceful coexistence and progressive development of Nawgu. We are a wonderful people, progressive in nature but need further thrust to accelerate our yearnings for a better future.
“The expectations are very clear. The people have spoken unambiguously and unequivocally, they have made a statement that today, they want a new beginning. They want a new chapter to be opened in Nawgu. By God’s grace, I won’t fail them.”
Prince Nwegwu called on ndi Nawgu to cooperate with the new leadership of the NDU while expressing his appreciation to the outgoing exco for their effort in directing the affairs of the town.
Earlier in his remarks before the election began, the traditional ruler of Nawgu, Igwe George Okaa-Onwuogu (Igwe Orachili Na Nawgu), sued for the peaceful conduct of the NDU elections, describing Nawgu as a peaceful town.
“We enjoy peace in Nawgu and want to sustain it. This is not the first town union election that will be conducted.
