… Awka North TC Chairman Mr. Emmanuel Uchueze affirmed that the election was peaceful, free and fair.
Mr. Chukwudi Okonkwo has emerged the President General of Ebenebe Town Union in Awka North local government area of Anambra state after the union conducted election to usher in new executive members.

ANN reports that Mr. Okonkwo emerged the new President-General of the town after garnering five hundred and one votes while Mr. Emma Nweke won the first Vice President-General post with three hundred and sixty-four votes and Mr. Ezekiel Jideofor became the Second Vice President-General with two hundred and eighty-three votes.

The election which took place at the open field of Community Primary School, Ebenebe attracted youths and adults from the community who turn out in large numbers for the exercise.

The option A4 voting system was used by the electoral committee for all the contested posts, as indigenes queued behind their preferred candidates and were counted, while the election was supervised by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs.

Other posts contested for include the post of Secretary, which Mr. Benedict Iyiagu won and Engineer Vincent Okafor became the new Financial Secretary while the post of Public Relations Officers, was unopposed with Mr. Julius Okafor being the sole candidate.
In his acceptance speech Mr. Chukwudi Okonkwo thanked God for the grace of winning and promised that he will work together with his other executive members for the progress of the community. The new First Vice-President-General, Mr. Emma Nweke noted that there will be a difference in the leadership of the community, as he is all out to serve.
One of the supervisors of the election from the Ministry Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs. Mr. Ernest Obi and Mr. Ikechukwu Oforkansi from Association of Anambra State Town Union, ASATU, advised all to join hands together for growth and development of the community not minding who won or lost.
