Anambra State Police Command operatives have begun an investigation into the murder of Bar. Peter Awah, Secretary of Okija Development Union.
Preliminary Information reveals that the assailants operating in motorbikes, shot the deceased as he was about to alight his vehicle for safety when he was approached by the murderers.
Angel Network News (ANN) gathered that some eyewitnesses have provided details that are already aiding the investigation.
Anambra Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, while commiserating with the family and friends of the deceased, the Nigeria Bar Association, the people of Okija as well as the State, directs the immediate transfer of the case to the Homicide section of the Criminal Investigation Department, Awka for a comprehensive probe into the incident.
ANN reports that in another development, Police operatives on Sunday 19th May 2024, intercepted two young men in a tricycle along Amawbia, Nibo road and recovered one locally made pistol and a tricycle
According to a release by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer,
Anambra State Command, the armed men both 25 years of age are Chigozie Echiebu of Urum Village, Awka LGA, and Edwine Emmanuel of Nkerefi Village in Nkanu East of Enugu State.

The suspects have provided Police with information on their mode of Operations and names of other gang members which is already aiding the ongoing investigation.
To this end, the CP, directs that the investigation be widened and deepened to bring to book all those connected, and the case should be charged to court on the conclusion of the investigation.
