Anambra: Police Officers Trained On Handling Gender Based Violence Cases

The Commissioner of Police Anambra State Police Command, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has taken a proactive step to enhance the proficiency of officers in handling gender-based violence cases.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the Police Officers were subjected to a 2-day Capacity Building Training at Vertex View Hotel, Awka.

According to the CP, the training is a crucial step towards combating gender-based violence and promoting gender sensitivity within the Command. It is essential to ensure that Law Enforcement officials are trained to handle such cases with sensitivity and professionalism.

The Training program supported by the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA), has Operatives from Vision Spring Initiatives led by Ngozi Nwosu-Juba the Project Director and two others as the Facilitators.

Vision Spring Initiatives is a duly registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with its main office in Lagos State. In the last year, the organization has been partnering with Security Agencies and other Civil Society organizations to provide human rights education to women and girls.

The Command also appreciates the NGO for their donation of working tools such as computers and accessories to aid the documentation of cases brought before it.
