A bill for a law to establish the Anambra State Public Complaints, Financial Crime And Anti-Corruption Commission, and for related matters has been passed Into Law.
After the necessary corrections and ammendment at the ‘Committee of the Whole’, the bill was passed at plenary on Tuesday February 3rd 2026, after the Majority Leader of the House, Sir. Ikenna Ofodeme moved a motion for the third reading and was seconded by the Deputy Minority Leader, Hon. Nobel Igwe.
Angel Network News (ANN) gathered that the Commission will investigate all Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes cases involving the finances and assets of Anambra State Government.
“It will also take over the investigation of such cases being investigated by any other Agency or Authority and handle all cases of corrupt practices in the State.
” The Commission shall submit a progress report of its activities to the Office of the Governor and to the House of Assembly of the State respectively.
“The Commission shall ensure that administrative action taken against any person mentioned under this Law will not result in the commission of any act of injustice against any indigene of the State or any other person resident in the State and for this purpose it shall investigate with special care any administrative act, which is or appears to be contrary to any law or regulation.
Anambra Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze who presided plenary commended the joint Committee for a job well done.
Rt. Hon. Udeze maintained that the bill shall come into force from February 17th 2026.
