A bill for a law to provide for the consolidation, administration and collection of all revenue due to the state and local government in Anambra State, establish the relevant administrative structures and provide for related matters has been read for the first and second time at plenary on Wednesday.
ANN reports that Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Jude Akpua through order 14, rule 74:1 of the house order, seek the permission of the assembly to proceed with the second reading of the bill.
Leading the motion, Hon. Akpua who is the member representing Njikoka two constituency
maintained that revenue is the bed rock of any administration.
Supporting the bill, Chief Whip and member representing Ihiala one constituency Hon. Jude Ngobili, Hon. Patrick Udoba (Anambra West) and Hon. Emma Nwafor (Orumber South) in their seperate submission maintained that the bill when passed into law will enhence the consolidation of revenue collection in Anambra state which will lead to the growth of IGR.
According to the lawmakers, harmonization will eliminate touting because alot of people are collecting revenue without giving account.
Anambra assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze refered the bill to the house committee on IGR chaired by Hon. Jude Ngobili.
The Speaker urged the committee to report back to the house in two weeks time.
