ANAMBRA: Six Members Conferred Iyom Title In Nimo Community

Nimo Community in Njikoka Local government area of Anambra state has conferred Iyom title and inducted six new members into the prestigious Otu Odu Socio Cultural Organization.

Iyom, as the highest-ranking social status, is bestowed on women of virtue with creditable service to their community.

ANN reports that the colourful ceremony, held at the palace of the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Chinedu Oliobi, attracted friends and well-wishers, who came to share in the joy of the celebrants.

According to the President and founder, Otu Odu Iyom Nimo, Mrs. Okpadire Nwandiocha, the induction, conducted in line with constitutional guidelines, was instituted to honour women, whose life style depicts a role model in the area.

In her remark, the wife of the traditional ruler, Ocheze Theodore Oliobi, explained that the induction system, which start with interview and eligibility, is a symbol of affluence, purity, royalty and respect, adding that the organization as an advocate of think home philosophy, has the vision of strategizing on developmental projects that will advance the community.

She advised the new members to maintain high moral standards which the society is noted for, and contribute positively in assisting humanity.

Speaking, Igwe Oliobi, who felicitated with the new members said the inductees were people of substance with proven integrity.

In an interview with ANN, some of the new members described the induction as an honour and elevation for more responsibilities.

The event offered another platform to recognize teachers in the area for their tireless efforts towards enhancing human capital development while debate and quiz competitions, sponsored by Chief Dr. Emeka Omagbu, also featured.

Handover of staff of office by the traditional ruler, royal dance, performances by the Egedege Cultural Dance troupe and Egwu Obi Umuoji, climaxed the event.
