The Anambra State Government has approved contracts totaling about ₦43.7 billion for major infrastructure projects including roads, schools, power, and hospital works, state officials announced Tuesday.
Information Commissioner Law Mefor, speaking after the 19th Executive Council meeting held in Awka, said these approvals cover key projects such as:
-Dualisation of the Ekwulobia-Ufuma Road with a bridge (₦37.95 billion) awarded to Lebtech Construction Ltd.
-Construction of the Adili/Park Road spur to the Nnewi Building Materials Market (₦1.40 billion).
Various smaller contracts for schools, medical equipment, airport VIP lounge works, internal premises rehabilitation, and government building upgrades.
Mefor also stated that, due to the upcoming Anambra governorship election, the government will not begin any brand-new projects for the sake of electioneering, but will continue working on and awarding contracts for strategic, ongoing needs.
Another key assurance from the meeting: the state government pledged not to owe state contractors, a principle Governor Chukwuma Soludo has emphasized since taking office.
