Anambra State House of Assembly Plenary 22nd of March 2022

Anambra Assembly plenary on Tuesday started with an opening prayer led by the house of assembly speaker Uche Okafor, he welcomed everyone present at the plenary.

The speaker Uche Okafor recognized the presence of the members of the legislative body of faculty of health sciences and technology students University of Nigeria, Enugu campus, they visited to observe the plenary.

The votes and proceedings of last plenary was checked and carried by the honorable members of the 7th assembly.

On matter of public petitions, Hon Ejike Okechukwu Okoye member representing Aniocha 2 constituency said that two petitions were ready for presentation.

Hon. Emmanuel Nwafor member representing Orumba south constituency presented a petition by Emaculater Okonkwo and company.

The petition reads ‘criminal mismanagement and embezzlement of public fund and dispute leadership of Aniocha local government by the transition chairman, Mr Patrick Onyedum’.

The petitioner’s prayed that the house of assembly use their office and investigate the internally generated revenue derived from ANAFES of 2021 and other local government funds, under this management.

They also prayed that the house should ensure that he refund all mismanaged or embezzled funds,

The petition was referred by the Hon Speaker Uche Okafor, to the Committee on public petitions for proper review and should report back to the 7th assembly in 2weeks.

The second petition is presented by Hon Ejike Okechukwu Okoye and the petitioner’s are Ike Obeta and Co.

The petition is captioned ‘Re-appeal for retroactive inclusion in the civil service commission 2005 point to point lateral transfer exercise of cooperative officer.

He stressed that Ike Obeta and Co are solicitor’s to Mr Agbanusi Charles Obimma, their plea was that the complaint of their clients be looked into.

The petition was referred by the Hon Speaker Uche Okafor, to the Committee on public petitions for proper review and should report back to the 7th assembly in 2weeks.

And also the house Committee on public petitions reported a petition titled – reacquisition of land and unique subsequent compensation to Ozor James Eze, the owner of the land alleged to have been acquired.

Meanwhile the family of late Chief Charles Amilo were permitted into the chamber for the valedictory session of Charles Amilo a member of the old assembly, member representing Igboukwu.

A minute silence was observed in honor of the late honorable, and the members of the 7th assembly observed honorable members file pass for the deceased.

Hon. Timothy Ifedioramma member representing Njikoka 1 constituency in his tribute for late Charles Amilo narrates that late Charles was a great man, he earned the Udo obodo Enugu uku na Umu Nri tittle,he joined the national party of Nigeria in 1979 and in 1983 he contested for the Anambra State house of assembly in the old Anambra region, he represented Enugu uku which is now Njikoka 1 constituency.

In 2003 late Charles under governor Ngige was appointed the commissioner of information and culture.

He likened late Amilo to encyclopedia stating that people consult him just like a book and he chronically explained what happened years back as if is yesterday.

He told the immediate family not to gloom over the lost because late Charles came, he saw and he conquered.

He also urge the family to follow the late father’s step and even do more.

Hon Pete Chima Ibida member representing Njikoka 2 constituency attested that late Charles was a man of honor.

He lamented that death is wicked in his tribute if not how can a strong man like Charles Amilo die but in all submission he said that God made it so.

He said that late Charles was a man he admired so much and he was a good fellow.

He added that he was an advocate and facilitator of quality governance.

He stressed that the late Charles Amilo did not only advocate for Enugu uku but for the whole Njikoka and that is why he was confered the tittle of peace ( Udo obodo ).

He consoled the family and prayed that the soul of the deceased rest in peace.

The honorable speaker Uche Okafor also sympathized with the family and he described late honorable Charles as a consummste politician and a renowned public servant, he lived a modest and fufilled life.

He further describe him as one who is rooted in community affairs and In the culture of his people.

He said that udo obodo is a scientist by profession and a politician by practice.

On behalf of Anambra State house of assembly, the speaker Uche Okafor commonsurate with the family of late Chief Charles Amilo.

Barrister Amilo Victor the last child of late honorable Charles Amilo thanked the speaker and all the members of the 7th assembly for this great honor given to his late Dad.

And also in today’s plenary Hon. Okechukwu Okoye member representing Aguata 2 constituency moved a motion to use order 10 rule 44 ( despensation without notice ) congratulating governor Charles Soludo for his successful inauguration and takeoff as the new governor of Anambra State.

Hon. Paschal Agbodike member representing Ihiala 2 constituency seconded the motion moved by Hon. Okechukwu Okoye.

Angel network news had reported that his Excellency Charles Soludo emerged the winner of the November 6th and 9th Anambra State gubernatorial election.

The election was adjudged free and fair, credible by both local and international observers.

Hon Paschal Agbodike in today’s plenary stressed that governor Charles before his inauguration had appointed 80 transition Committee members which was later increased to 150 members.

This was to interface with the outgoing administration and to prepare grounds for takeoff of the new administration.

He said that the governor’s inaugural speech and his 6 core appointment show’s that he is in for a serious business.

Hon. Paschal Agbodike said that seeing the capacity and ability of governor Charles Soludo Ndi Anambra elected him.

He further plead with the Hon members to congratulate the governor and also give him the full support needed.

Hon. Pete Chima Ibida member representing Njikoka 2 constituency supported the motion moved by Hon Paschal Agbodike and also corrected him that the congratulations should be for both the governor and the deputy governor.

He also said that where there is light, there is peace

Hon Pete Chima Ibida hailed Soludo for being able to control the affairs of the central bank of Nigeria CBN.

He said that governor Soludo have matched several legs and those legs rise to support him.

He also asserted that people from outside Anambra are also clamouring for professor Soludo.

He said that up to 14 to 20 support group are clamouring for professor Soludo and this is showing that he is a Brand.

He also acknowledge the deputy governor Dr Ibezim for being a great man and a scholar to have graduated as a scientist in UNN.

And also coming from a God fearing home, his elder brother is an Arch Bishop in Anglican Communion and with this the deputy governor is going to represent the image of the family well.

Hon Onyebuchi Augustine Offor member representing Ekwusigo constituency argued that Soludo is not purely APGA product but the combine effort of all the good people of Anambra State.

He said from Soludo’s interview with arise TV. The governor have come to carry a very big problem, he opined that Soludo came for a rescue mission.

He urge the honorable members not just to give their support but also back him up with prayers.

Because meeting an empty account as Soludo said in arise TV is not a joke.

He also lamented that the Obiano led administration has performed very bad.

Hon Paschal Agbodike member representing Ihiala 2 constituency joined in congratulating the governor and the deputy governor Onyekachi Ibezim.

He attested that Soludo is a prayer answered for Ndi Anambra.

He praised the past governor’s including the immediate ex governor for a job welldone.

He said government is a continue and he call on Ndi Anambra to give their full support.

He urge stake holders to come down to Anambra state, seeing that a great economist is now the governor.

Hon. Godwin Nnamdi Okafor member representing Awka south 1 constituency also congratulated the governor expressing his Joy that he and the good people of his constituency are happy for the governor.

He also said that the people have voted him into power. And to whom much is given, much is also expected.
He expressed that he believes that Soludo will deliver well.

He also encourage Anambra people investing outside Anambra to come back home and grow their investment under the watch of professor Soludo.

He went further to plead with Soludo to create an industrialized state by ensuring that there is constant power supply in Anambra State .

Hon Godwin Nnamdi Okafor prayed that God guide and see him through in his administration.

Hon Obinna Chris Emenaka member representing Anambra east constituency strongly support and congratulate the governor Charles Soludo and his deputy Onyekachi Ibezim.

He praised Soludo for a Job welldone in the banking sector of Nigeria.

He went further to compare Soludo’s past with his present, asking which one is the greatest?

He also urged everyone to support Soludo in his administration.

He also thanked Obiano for supporting someone that is better than him to succeed him.

He pray God guide and direct the affairs of the governor Prof Soludo and his deputy Ibezim.

Hon Charles Obimma member representing Oyi constituency also joined in congratulating the governor.

Hon Emmanuel Nwafor member representing Orumba south constituency also joined in the support and congratulation of the new governor Prof Soludo.

He said that the name Soludo implies or calls for peace.

He called him solution of our time

He opined that the governor started very well by making a move to
Okpoko and also the visit to Ekwulobia prison.

He stressed that Prof Soludo is there for the people and he deserves a very big congratulations.

Hon John Nwokoye member representing Awka North constituency joined in congratulating the governor and his deputy for his victory and inauguration as the governor of Anambra State.

He is of the opinion that Awka North will benefit more than even Isuofia where the governor Hales from and that’s the reason why he’s congratulating him.

He said that seeing that the governor Prof Soludo is so much concern about rural dwellers, having gone to Okpoko, he knows that Awka North will benefit from Prof Soludo’s administration.

The honorable house resolved that the governor of Anambra State Prof Charles Soludo and his deputy Onyekachi Ibezim be congratulated for their victory and successful inauguration as governor of Anambra State.

The plenary session was adjourned to Tuesday 29th day of March 2022 by Hon Godwin Nnamdi Okafor and was seconded by Hon Pete Chima Ibida.
