Honorable members and speaker of the Anambra house of assembly have expressed dissatisfaction, on Tuesday over the newly shortlisted names for the conversion of PTA teachers into universal basic education staff.
During the plenary session held in Anambra state house of assembly today, the chairman house committee on basic education Hon. Ejike Okechukwu member representing Aniocha 2 constituency lamented that he received over 100 calls on Sunday over the conversion of PTA teachers.
He stressed that due process was not followed in the conversion of PTA teachers into full staff.
Hon Ejike plead with the house to direct the Anambra state commissioner of education Prof Kate Omenugha to suspend every action as regards the conversion of PTA teachers into full staff.
Hon. Chukka Febian Ezenwune said he has never been comfortable with the actions of the commissioner, he said that the commissioner of education should be invited to the house of assembly on Thursday for questioning .
He also added that the number of the bill passed for recruitment of PTA teachers is 500 and the number of the supposed recruited teachers is 612. He said “there is something wrong with this conversion, many that came for the interview where not among the shortlisted names”.
He also said that “ this names of shortlisted PTA teachers is supposed to be for PTA teachers who have been suffering for years in rural areas and not people living in urban areas”.
Hon. Noble Igwe also stated that most shortlisted names of the converted PTA teachers is from idemili south.
The Hon Speaker Uche Okafor also lamented that his own constituency, the Ayamelum constituency did not have any PTA teacher converted to full staff and there are a lot of PTA teachers in the area.

Meanwhile Anambra state public complaint and anti-corruption commission bill 2022 was for the first time before the honorable members passed.
A bill to provide for the administration or the office of the auditor general of Anambra state and auditor general of local government , auditing of the state and local government institutions, to ensure credibility. The establishment of the audit service commission was also read for the first time and passed.
