All transporters in Anambra State have passed a resolution assuring the state government that they will work on Mondays to convey passengers to their destinations.
The transporters, who gave the assurance through their leaders, Chief Anthony Okwugo and Mr. Vincent Ukwuoma, during a meeting with the Ministry of Transport held in Awka, regretted that Anambra State had lost huge revenue that should have been used by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to construct more roads due to the Monday sit-at-home.
They maintained that every transport department must be open for transport activities on Mondays, commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for ending the Monday sit-at-home in Anambra that had lingered for years, and urged him to beef up security across the state on Mondays so that residents will feel safe to go about their legitimate businesses, even as they appealed to the state government to ensure that independent petroleum marketers operate on Mondays to enable transporters function seamlessly.

Addressing the transporters, the Commissioner for Transport in Anambra State, Mrs. Patricia Igwebuike, explained that the essence of the meeting was to sensitize them on the need to be available on Mondays so they could provide transport services to the growing number of people on the roads now that markets, schools, and banks in the state have resumed operations on Mondays.
