The Deputy Vice Chancellor of Paul’s University Awka, Professor Chinyere Stella Okunna has been decorated as the ‘Mother General’ of Angel Network News (ANN) Chapel.
Prof. Okunna, an ICON of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Matriarch of NUJ Anambra State Council and the first female Professor of Mass Communication in Sub-Sahara Africa, was honoured on Thursday December 11th 2024 during the end of the year meeting of ANN Chapel.
The Secretary of NUJ, Anambra State Council, Comrade Aloysius Ofodile before the decoration held at ANN head office in Udoka Housing Estate Awka, said Prof. Okunna has contributed immensely to the growth and development of the union.

Onyebuchi Ndubisi while speaking, described Prof. Stella Okunna as an acomplished scholar and Matriarch of NUJ, Anambra State Council who has distinguished her self and is a role model to many’.
” We are very happy having you as a member of ANN Chapel. We ask God to continue to bless you with long life, good health and more wisdom”. Ndubisi prayed.
General Manager of ANN, Dr. Ifeanyi Obiefuna in his speech described Prof. Okunna has a humble woman who despite her achievements remain simple.
Dr. Obiefuna commended Okunna for her dedication, commitment and solidarity since joining ANN Chapel.
Responding Professor Stella Okunna in her remarks expressed gratitude for the honors, stating that the decoration as ‘Mother General’ will propel her to do more.
” I am glad that i joined ANN Chapel. I am humbled and i appreciate this honour. I will continue to contribute my quota to the progress and development of ANN and NUJ”. Okunna assured.
