The fight over who is the authentic All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) National Chairman and governorship candidate has shifted to the Federal High Court, Abuja where Chief Jude Okeke, one of the factional National Chairmen of the party has launched a legal battle to get the court to uphold and affirm him as the authentic Chairman.
Okeke also wants the court to issue a perpetual injunction against Chief Victor Oye and Chief Edozie Njoku from parading themselves as APGA Chairmen.
Okeke is seeking judicial backing to declare that only him and not Oye or Njoku has the power to forward the name of the governorship candidate of APGA for the November 6 gubernatorial election, having conducted the primary on 1st July 2021, which produced a member of House of Representatives Hon. Chuma Umeoji as the APGA flag bearer. The consequence of the Suit is that whoever wins gets to forward the valid name of the APGA candidate for the election.
While Chief Victor Oye produced Prof Chukwuma Soludo as a candidate for the governorship election, Chief Edozie Njoku produced himself and Chief Jude Okeke produced Hon. Chuma Umeoji as a candidate.
Chief Okeke is also asking the Court to restrain both Oye and Njoku from submitting any names of any other candidate except the name of Hon. Chuma Umeoji as the validly nominated candidate of the party.
