The Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim has tasked newly ordained ministers of God to proclaim the word and deed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, fashion their life in accordance with its precepts, declare God’s forgiveness to sinners, pronounce blessing and preside at the administration of holy baptism.
Most Reverend Ibezim who is also the Archbishop, Province of the Niger ordained these ministers of God during a Trinity ordination service held at Saint Paul’s Parish, Umuokpu-Awka.

ANN reports that six deacons were ordained priests and nine ordinands made deacons. While ordaining the priests, Most Reverend Ibezim stated that because they cannot bear the weight of the ministry with their own strength but only by the grace and power of God, they should pray earnestly for God’s guidance that he will each day enlarge and enlighten their understanding of the scripture so as to grow stronger and more matured in the ministry.

In a sermon to mark the service, the retreatant and preacher, Venerable Chris Ogbodo said as militant soldiers of God, they should gain approval from God which will be confirmed by men, put their personal efforts and make the pulpit a place of dispensing God’s word which is their greatest weapon and place to reawaken the conscience of men.
Venerable Ogbodo said as priests, they must be faithful researchers into God’s word while urging the congregation to back them up with prayers, support their welfare.
