In the previous publication, Angel Network News presented Prof. Ogugua’s responses on the question of whether it is possible to hear from God or whether those who claim they hear from God are some kinds of liars or are under some sorts of hypnosis. Prof.’s answer on this question is direct and precise: every child of God must hear from God!
Having established this point, Angel Network News proceeded to ask the erudite scholar and spiritual man another very important question namely, “Do we hear Him with our ears the way we hear our relatives and friends when they talk to us or does the voice of God come in a form different from the normal ordinary day human communication”?
Prof. Ogugua notes that God is always speaking to address our problems and concerns in life. The problem is not with God speaking, the problem is that many children of God, especially Christians don’t know how to hear from God or rather how to recognize the voice of God when He is speaking. Citing the example of the Biblical Samuel, Prof. explains that though God was speaking but the young and untrained Samuel was not able to hear the God; he doesn’t even know that God was the one speaking until he was inducted into the act of hearing from God by Ali, the High Priest. In like manner, God speaks constantly and consistently but the majority of people don’t even have the lightest inkling or premonition that God is the one speaking.
What happens in this scenario is that when God has spoken severally to this individual and sees that His instructions are not understood let alone carried out, the voice of God becomes dull and faintly until it is completely cut off from the individual or drawn in the rat race of life .
The scholar explains that this is a very dangerous situation because a person who is cut off this way from the guidance of God becomes exposed to all manner of manipulations. Basically man is created to be in an intimate relationship with God and navigate through life guided by God. As such, anyone who can’t hear from God is like a blind man groping aimlessly through life. And because man is scared of walking through life blind, people flock to churches and prayer centres seeking to know what God is saying about them and their lives. The funny and unfortunate thing according to Ogugua is that, all the while, the God people flock to churches to hear is speaking to them just that they are not able to recognize his voice.
Therefore, Ogugua underlined that after recognizing that God is speaking to every situation concerning our lives, the next thing to do is to know how to recognize the voice of God.
First of all, every child of God has to realize that God is not man or a corporeal being like you and I. He is a spiritual being that lives in what Scriptures call unapproachable light.
A being as awesome, majestic and stupendous as this rarely communicates directly. He speaks more indirectly through signs and symbols.
Nevertheless, this observation doesn’t commit Ogugua to saying that God doesn’t speak directly to the external hearing of individuals. God does speak to individuals and they hear him through their external ears but according to Ogugua, this occurs in very rare occasions. God’s ordinary ways of communicating to individuals is indirectly through the mediation of the individuals or the things around them.
To explain this, Prof. Ogugua goes into a detailed elaboration of the various indirect ways God communicates to his children. The basic items that made his list include:
Through our desires and emotions
Through a small still inner voice
By inner conviction
By intuitions
By trance or what he calls instantaneous Divine awareness
Through dreams and visions
Through signs and symbols
Through other individuals
Through the experiences of life
Through the Church and Sacred Scripture
The Academic Don observes that the list is endless as God relates to each of his children according to their temperaments and dispositions. However, he maintained that these are the basic means God speaks to people and has specifically spoken to him. Taking these items one by one, he discussed and gave relevant examples on how one can recognize the presence and voice of God when he speaks through any of them.
