The Nigerian Army University, Biu (NAUB), at the weekend, conferred first degrees in various disciplines on 417 graduands during its maiden convocation in Biu, Borno State.
It also awarded Doctor of Letters (D. Litts) Honoria Causa to former Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) who is also former Nigerian Ambassador to Benin Republic, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai (rtd).
According to the university, Buratai played a critical role by establishing NAUB in 2018, while he was CoAS.
Buratai, who is the former Ambassador to Benin Republic, thanked the management of the university for the award and honour.
He also expressed gratitude to God for seeing him through his 40-year military career and blessing him with life and good health after retirement.

According to him, the university was established to curb insecurity to life and property in the North-East through education.
He, therefore, urged the management of the university to include in its curriculum life skills that should be taught to the youths to make them become responsible members of the society.
According to the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Kyari Mohammed, Buratai deserves the conferment of Honoris Causa in recognition of his distinguished, meritorious, and dedicated service to the country and humanity.
