Anambra State Town Union Council (ASTUC) Youth Ladies Wing, has honoured Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs. Chinyere Esther Onyekesi, with the Award of Role Model for the Anambra Girl Child by
The award was presented on Saturday, August 15, 2026, during the event themed “Celebrating Distinguished Women: Inspiring Generations,” held at the ASTUC Secretariat Hall, Old Government House.
Receiving the award, Commissioner Onyekesi expressed appreciation to the ASTUC Youth Ladies Wing, describing the recognition as a call to greater service.
She reaffirmed her commitment to championing the rights and welfare of women and children while inspiring young girls across Anambra State to believe in themselves, pursue excellence and become leaders of tomorrow.
The organisers described Commissioner Onyekesi as a strong advocate for women and children, commending her commitment to women’s empowerment, child protection, social welfare and creating opportunities for the girl child.
