The Executive Chairman of the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), Dr. Justina Chinyere Anyadiegwu, has congratulated two Anambra educators who excelled at the 2026 President’s Teachers’ and Schools’ Excellence Awards, describing their achievements as a source of pride for the state.

The awardees, Mrs. Gloria Nkolika Odionu of Awada Primary School IV, Obosi, who emerged Nigeria’s Overall Best Administrator and Best Public Primary School Administrator, and Mrs. Peace Amarachi Ohanuka of Ideke Community Primary School, Odekpe, who was named Best Public Primary School Teacher, were received by the ASUBEB chairman in her office.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that

Mrs. Odionu received a black Jetour Jeep in recognition of her outstanding performance, while Mrs. Ohanuka earned national recognition for her exemplary contribution to teaching in the public basic education sector.

Congratulating the awardees, Dr. Anyadiegwu said they had made Anambra’s education system proud, noting that their achievements would inspire teachers, school administrators and other stakeholders to strive for excellence.

She commended their dedication, professionalism and outstanding performance, urging them to sustain the standards that earned them national recognition and continue to serve as role models to other educators.

The ASUBEB chairman also encouraged teachers and school administrators across the state to view the awards as a call to greater commitment, stressing that the future of basic education depends on quality teaching, effective school administration and the willingness of education personnel to go beyond the ordinary.

According to her, the recognition underscores the importance of promoting professionalism, strengthening school administration and building a culture in which dedication, innovation and measurable results are rewarded.

Dr. Anyadiegwu noted that the awards were not merely personal victories for the recipients but also a source of pride for Anambra State, demonstrating that sustained commitment to quality basic education could attract national recognition.

She added that the achievements provided fresh impetus to Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s education reform agenda, which places free and quality basic education at the centre of the administration’s human capital development drive.
