…Outline measures in-place towards ensuring safty of pupils
The Chairman Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) Dr. Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi says environmental education is important and that pupils are being thought minor hygen and how to be good citizens in schools.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that Dr. Nwadinobi while speaking in an interview at her office on Friday August 23, maintained that through civic education, teachers educate students on the need for healthy living.
” Minor hygen such as washing of hands before eating, proper and appropriate waste disposal are been thought in schools and waste bins are provided for clean environment.
” Public transport should have waste bins in their vehicles, this will reduce the habit of littering the streets and environment.
” Ndi Anambra should learn how to trash wastes appropriately and responsibly. Those dropping wastes at drinages should stop doing so.
” The state government through Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA) are doing well and are making effort in placing trash bins in strategic places.
“Governor Soludo has brought the solution and ndi Anambra should do their part’.
The ASUBEB boss while speaking on the roles of teachers in promoting cyber security within the educational sector in Anambra, maintained that continues education on cyber security best practices, online safety and digetal identity ownership should be sustained.
” Students should be aware of responsible technology use such as phones, gadgets should not be used in negative ways.
“They should avoid risky behaviors such as password sharing and attempt to get unauthorized excess to data and information.
” They should mind their business when using technology.
” During Incident reporting such as security challenges, they should prioritize the use of technology for giving information that will help to avert security challenges.
Dr. Nwadinobi revealed that their are measures in place to ensure the security of educational institution in Anambra State.
” Most primary schools in Anambra State are been fenced as a result of the counterpart funds that Governor Chukwuma Soludo paid for three years before this administration came on board.
” Gates and peremither fencing are been fixed in every school. Governor Soludo has plans for placing CCTV cameras in all schools across the 21 local government in Anambra State. This will help to safe guard the environment.
” A proper check on the pupils and on movements around the school premises are part of the ways school environment are been secured in Anambra State.
” All the schools in Anambra State have register where by anybody that comes in, registers his or her name.
” We instructed head teachers that on no account should they attend to anyone who claims to be from the headquarters without confirming weather truly the headquarters sent anyone to request for any documents or release a child.
” Schools communicate and collaborate with local Vigilantes through Private, Public, Committee, Partnership (PPCP) who help in safeguarding schools in their environment.
