Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA) has meet with stackholders and enterpreneurs operating in the recycling value chain.

Anambra State Waste Recyclers Association Chairman, Pastor Ben Agape in an interveiw after the meeting held at ASWAMA office in Awka on Friday, said the essence of the meeting is to inter-face and discusson the way forward.
“The plastic waste recovery challange which involves all the communities in Anambra state has commenced. We are running this challenge as part of the activities marking world environment day. Its a one month challenge that will run from 8th of June to the 7th of July after which the winner will go home with a million naira, runner-up gets five hundrend thousand and third place community gets two hundrend thousand.
” We have full support from Anambra state government because they are part of the program. There are cordinators from each of the three senatorial zones, 21 local governments
and in all communities and we are hoping that by the end of the challange, their will be no hidding place for plastics in Anambra state.

Chicason recycling plant manager, Mr. Akinyemi Oluwafemi while speaking with reporters after the meeting commended the Governor of Anambra state Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for the initiative.
“The modalities on how logistics and the kind of plastic that will be picked for recycling was discussed and we are coming with holistic solution. The commissioner for environment Hon. Felix Odumegwu through its ministry is doing a good job and we are here to contribute our quota. Chicason has spent more than three hundred million naira in purchasing plastic material across the country and its good that Anambra has joined the movement’.
