Former vice president Atiku Abubakar has accused President Bola Tinubu of copying his proposal to ease fuel costs, likening him to “a dull student who copied his classmate’s answer”.
Addressing Tinubu directly, Atiku said the president had earlier dismissed him as ignorant of economic policy when he proposed targeted support to cut fuel costs.
“You copied my production subsidy proposal, nothing wrong about that,” Atiku said. But he accused Tinubu of “stripping away the part that makes it work” and handing Nigerians “a 30-day discount“.
“Demanded marks for original thinking”
Atiku said the copying was so blatant that the president had left his “classmate’s name at the top of his exam paper and then demanded marks for original thinking”.
“You see why it is good to go to school?” he asked.
