The Chairman of Awka South Local Government Area, Honourable Prince Chinedu Okafor (The City Mayor) hosted the good people of his constituents on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Marble Arch hotels and suites Awka, thanking them for their support during the election that brought him and his councillors in, as they massively voted for APGA and prayed God to bless them.
The event attracted dignitaries from various works of life, including captains of industries, politicians, students and others.
The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR, was represented at the event by Hon. High Chief Chinedu Nwoye (Glamore).
Speaking, the mayor informed his guests that Awka South has nine towns and his administration has selected and given 10 students scholarship, from first year to final year, at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
The students are Nwumeh Victoria Chidinma, from Awka, studying Environmental health science; Felix Chiboy, from Ezinator town, studying Computer science; Ezelote Chiagoziem, from Mbaukwu, studying zoology; Nwankwo Perpetual Chinaecherem, from Isiagu, studying Business Administration, Nweke Samuel, from Nibo, studying Education and computer science and Udozor Chisom, from Amawbia, studying accounting.
Others are Okonkwo Chukwumobi, Okpuno, studying Industrial production technology, Ndubuisi Tochukwu, Nise, studying Public Administration, Iloanya Victor Precious, Obunagu Awka, studying Science Education, plus one of the beneficiaries, who did not attend the event.
The Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Pius Okoye, Deputy Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Osy Onuko, Managing Director ACTDA, and Ambassador Linus Williams, Chairman Blord group were also given Awards.
Hon. Ambassador Great Ugwuoke ( Mmilienweilo), Managing Director VIBCINJECH Nigeria Limited, also the President General, Anambra Non Indigenous Stakeholders Association (ANISA) and Anambra Non Indigenes Association (ANIAS), was given a community service award, in special recognition of his significant active personal services towards social, economic and community development.
Other awardees were: Hon. Ozo Jude Agummadu (Baby Awka), Hon. Leo Nwuba, former chairman Awka South Local Government Area, Hon. Azubuike Ekweozor and others.
In there responses, they pledged to be supportive to the administration of Hon. Prince Okafor.
The Chairman Blord group promised to give scholarship to 20 students from year one to their final year. That is, ten students each from Awka South and Awka North Local Government Areas.
UNIZIK Catholic students entertained guests with songs which added glamour to the occasion.
