Unknown gunmen have attacked a Fulani settlement in Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State killed no fewer than nine persons and razed down houses.
It was gathered that the attack occured on Monday when a large number of armed men invaded the area and opened fire on Fulani herdsmen.
According to reports, unspecified number of cattle, and other valuables including a motorcycle were taken away by the hoodlums.
The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the incident said the Commissioner of police in the state had deployed tactical team to the area to forestall further attacks and also to bring the perpetrators to book.
