Basketmouth, a comedian and musician, has voiced concerns about the skyrocketing costs associated with filmingĀ music videos.
The seasoned comedian bemoaned the increase in the industry standard rate, which went from 7 to 7.5 million Naira to roughly 27 to 30 million Naira at this point.
Basketmouth expressed his misgivings about the production price during an interview on Lagosās The Beat 99.9 FM.
He stated that the price increase was the reason he chose to shoot a holdup video for the lead song from his upcoming album, āUburu,ā āParty,ā rather than spending more than N25 million to shoot a traditional video.
He said,Ā āThe visual we have for my song āPartyā with Peruzzi is not an official video. Itās just like a holdup because I did not know that the economy had hit us that badly. 2 years ago, I used to make videos for 7ā7.5 million Naira. Now, it is 27ā30 million Naira.
āIām an Igbo man so the first thing I thought about was, āOkay, Bright, if youāre spending N25 million on visuals, itās for uptick, right? Then do a holdup video; do something for uptick as well.āā
