Brooklyn Beckham, eldest son of football icon David Beckham and fashion mogul Victoria Beckham, has publicly accused his parents of undermining his marriage to actress Nicola Peltz Beckham, claiming they placed the family’s lucrative brand image above his personal well-being in a scathing social media post.
The 26-year-old photographer and aspiring chef broke his silence on Instagram Monday, alleging a pattern of interference that began before his 2022 wedding and continued through media leaks orchestrated by his parents’ team.
“Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed,” Brooklyn wrote.
“I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” he added, insisting his decision was independent of his wife.
Among the grievances, Brooklyn claimed his parents demanded he relinquish rights to his name prior to the nuptials, a move he rejected that reportedly shifted their family dynamic.
“They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated,” he stated.
He further accused his mother of abruptly scrapping plans to design his bride’s wedding gown, and described an incident at the ceremony where she allegedly interrupted the couple’s first dance.
“My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife… I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life,” Brooklyn recounted.
Additional claims included family members labeling Peltz Beckham as “not blood” or “not family,” excluding her from gatherings like his father’s birthday, and introducing him to past romantic interests while treating public outings as staged for optics.
“Brand Beckham comes first,” he asserted, encapsulating what he views as the core priority.
Brooklyn emphasized that distancing himself has brought relief: “For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared.”
The couple, who began dating in 2019 and tied the knot in a lavish Florida event at the Peltz family estate, have faced persistent rumors of discord with the Beckhams, though Brooklyn previously dismissed such speculation.
No immediate comment was available from David or Victoria Beckham, whose “Brand Beckham” empire spans sports, fashion, and endorsements valued in the hundreds of millions.
