Nigeria’s football governing body has cleared all outstanding payments to national team coach Eric Chelle, ensuring the tactician enters the knockout phase of the Africa Cup of Nations with a clear focus amid the Super Eagles’ flawless group stage run, according to reports from the tournament host nation.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) disbursed Chelle’s full entitlements, encompassing a $60,000 match bonus at $20,000 per victory and a daily allowance of $400 since the squad’s camp opened in Egypt, sources close to the team confirmed.
Under Chelle’s guidance, Nigeria secured three consecutive wins to top their group, setting up a last-16 clash against Mozambique on Monday in the 2025 edition of the continental showdown.
An insider in Fez, speaking to local media, said: “Eric Chelle is in good state of mind financially. He has been paid all his financial entitlements, including his January 2026 salary.”.
The source praised the federation’s handling, adding: “The NFF has done well in this regard. The coaches are happy. The players are not complaining, and the fans are not grumbling because the team is playing very well and winning. No controversial issues at all.”.
The timely settlements mark a departure from past disputes over arrears that have plagued Nigerian football, fostering harmony as the Eagles chase a fourth AFCON crown.
