Benjamin Kalu, the immediate previous spokesman for the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, has emerged as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
ANN reports that Babajimi Benson of Lagos State recommended Kalu for the position, which Khadijat Bukar Abba Ibrahim of Yobe State seconded.
Benson stated that the nomination was vital for inclusivity and addressing perceived marginalisation.
After requesting further nominations but receiving none, the Clerk of the National Assembly pronounced Kalu elected as Deputy Speaker and proceeded to administer the oath of office to him.
