Benue Gov Dissolves Lobi Stars FC Board Over Performance Concerns

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has approved the immediate dissolution of the board and management of Lobi Stars Football Club, citing the need to “reposition the club for greater efficiency, accountability, and better performance.”

In a statement released Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, Alia directed all outgoing officials, including the board chaired by Permanent Secretary Dr. Philip Nongu, to hand over all documents and assets to the Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Creativity without delay.

“The dissolution is with immediate effect,” the governor emphasized, adding:

“A new management structure will soon be announced to drive the next phase of Lobi Stars’ growth and competitiveness.”

He also expressed gratitude to the outgoing team for their service and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to using sports for youth engagement, talent discovery, and social cohesion in Benue State.

The drastic move comes as Lobi Stars, also known as the “Alia Boys,” compete in the Nigeria Premier Football League, where underperformance has become a major concern among fans and stakeholders.
