* Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has extended warm seasons greetings to Ndi Anambra.

Governor Soludo in his Christmas message expressed gratitude to God for the gift of life and the grace to celebrate another Christmas this year. In a release signed by his Press Secretary Mr Christian Aburime the Governor noted that Christmas is essentially a time for hope and a season for a renewed inspiration from the Saviour, Jesus Christ, whose birthday is celebrated on the solemn occasion annually.

* About 80 persons described as notorious criminals have been arrested in Upper Iweka area of Onitsha. The suspected criminals said to be responsible for petty crimes around Upper Iweka, an area noted for high rate of criminality in the commercial city of Onitsha.

According to a press release signed by Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, the leader of Anambra Youth Volunteers and Anambra North zonal Coordinator of Anambra Joint Enforcement Team (ANJET), the efforts of the team was gingered by the charge for a criminal free Christmas celebration by the state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo.

* A prophet and founder, INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Babatunde Elijah Ayodele has predicted attack on the convoy of the Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo next year. The prophet said many of Soludo’s aides including himself may either be seriously wounded or die in the convoy attack. He added that Soludo would seriously need prayers to avert total failure of governance in his state.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo joined Igwe Robert Eze and people of Ukpo in Dunukofia Local Government Area in celebrating their 2022 Ofala Festival. The 2022 Ofala Festival of Ukpo community is the thirty-first since the enthronement of Igwe Dr Eze.The festival attracted many custodians of culture, including the Chairman Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council and Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe.

*Anambra State Government has issued a note of warning to individuals and masquerades who are used to blocking roads and causing gridlock in the course of their activities in different parts of the state during the Yuletide, as any defaulter stands a chance of being arrested and prosecuted. The state Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu made this known in a statement issued to newsmen in the state on Wednesday, in which he also noted that the State Government has taken all the necessary steps to ensure free flow of traffic in the length and breadth of the State in the period.

* Transition Committee Chairman, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, Mr. Emmanuel Nweke has assured a rancor-free transition process for replacement of the successor of Traditional Ruler of Ogbunike, Igwe John Umenyiora, Ezedioramma 1 of Ogbunike. Nweke who gave the assurance at the celebration of last Ofala of the monarch at the Igwe Umenyiora Ofala arena, said as an enlightened community with high respect for tradition, he has no doubt that the exercise would be peaceful and devoid of bitterness.

*Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, has rebuked the personnel of the Nigerian Army stationed at the Amansea axis of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway for allegedly extorting users of the road. Ibezim was equally angry that the army, in its bid to extort the drivers plying that ever-busy expressway, caused long gridlock on the road thereby causing travellers to spend more time in the traffic.

*Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor has called on Christians and non-Christians to pursue peace at all times and shun acts capable of disuniting the country. Okafor in his In his Christmas Message also urged Nigerians to use the opportunity offered by the season to love one another and live together in peace.
