BREAKING: Court Rejects Edeoga’s Petition, Upholds Mbah as Enugu Gov

Governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Enugu State, has affirmed Peter Mbah as the duly elected governor of the state, dismissing all allegations lodged by the Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party—LP.

Mr Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party had approached the tribunal to challenge the declaration on the grounds that Mbah was not qualified to stand for the election.

He accused the PDP governor of forging his National Youth Service Corps—NYSC certificate.

Edeoga also made allegation of over-voting in Udenu, Nkanu East and Enugu East local government areas.

But the tribunal headed by Justice Kudirat Murayo Akano dismissed all grounds of petition.

The court rejected the claims that governor Mbah’s NYSC discharge certificate was forged. In a significant revelation, it was established that Mbah did not submit his NYSC certificate to INEC as part of his qualification to contest for the office of governor.

This is because he was already qualified without the need for an NYSC certificate.

The tribunal also dismissed their witnesses, ruling that the LP governorship candidate failed to present any admissible evidence to support the allegation that Mbah’s certificate was forged.
