A Life in Service
Buhari rose to prominence as a military head of state (1983–1985) and later served as Nigeria’s democratically elected president for two terms (2015–2023) .
His presidency was noted for its aggressive anti-corruption stance, ambitious economic reforms, and ongoing efforts to counter militant insurgencies.
National Mourning
President Bola Tinubu has instructed Vice President Kashim Shettima to travel to London to escort the former leader’s remains back to Nigeria. Additionally, the national flag is to be flown at half-staff as a mark of respect.
Official funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming hours as emotional tributes pour in across Nigeria and beyond.
Buhari’s death marks the end of a significant chapter in Nigerian history—one shaped by military rule, fierce anti-corruption drives, and a focus on national security. Our thoughts are with his family and the nation during this moment of loss.
