Pupils and teachers abducted from schools in Oyo State’s Oriire Local Government Area have regained their freedom after weeks in captivity, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga announced on Friday.
Onanuga confirmed the development on X, stating: “Finally, the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Oriire, Oyo have been freed by their abductors.”
The victims were seized during an attack on May 15 that also claimed the life of one teacher, prompting widespread concern and security operations.
