A bill for a law to provide for the sum of four hundred and ten billion, one hundred and thirty two million, two hundred and twenty five thousand, two hundred and seventy two naira (410, 132, 225, 272) has been approved for the services of the government of Anambra state for the year ending 31st December 2024 and for related purposes.

ANN reports that the bill was read for the third time and passed into law at plenary on Thursday.Â
The member representing Ogbaru one constituency Hon. Nobel Igwe moved a motion and was seconded by Majority leader Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme, member representing Ekwusigo, that the house adopt the report of the finance and appropriation committee as a working document after it was presented by Hon. Ejike Okechukwu the chairman of the committee.

Hon. Ejike Okechukwu the member representing Anaocha two during the presentation and consideration of report said their were some changes which was necessary for effective performance.
” We invited all the ministries and agencies to appeared before the joint committees of the house for the bilateral budget discussions.Â
“Questions were asked where necessary and clarification were giving by the respondents.
“The breakdown is made up of ninty six billion, two hundred and one million, nine hundred and thirty six, seven hundred and fouty six (96, 201, 936, 746) for recurrent expenditure.
“Three hundred and thirteen billion, nine hundred and thirty million, two hundred and eighty-eight,Â
five hundred and twenty six naira (313,930, 288, 526) is for capital expenditure with a budget deficit of one hundred and twenty billion, eighty four million, five hundred and thirteen thousand, eighteen naira (120, 840, 513, 18).
The committee recomended that funds should be released to MDAs and a proper scale of preference should be considered in order to achieve the aim of the budget.Â
“There should be synergy in order to eliminate all intending errors in the budget document and all MDA’s should be conversite to the procurement act and finance law of the state”. Hon. Okechukwu stated
Anambra assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze commended the joint committees for their efforts in making sure that the budget defense was successful.
ANN recalls that the 2024 draft estimate taged “Changing gears, the transformation agander begains” was presented to the members of the Anambra state house of assembly by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
